“Within HAUP, I work under the Covid Action Support Initiative (CASI) team.

CASI offers the community a variety of resources:

-educational sessions/workshops,
-Covid-19 resources (masks, Covid-19 home test, etc.),
-social service referrals (housing, immigration, etc.),

HEAT (Health and Education Alternatives for Teens) Program

HEAT’s mission is to provide a unique health and mental health program that focuses on the special needs of young people (13-29) who are at risk or living with HIV/AIDS and to remove the barriers that often prevent youth from accessing health care. HEAT operates a ‘one-stop shopping’ full-service clinic that is set in a youth-friendly, discrete and easily accessible venue at the SUNY Downstate’s Center for Healthcare Services in Brooklyn

Protecting The East (United Community Centers)

Protecting the East is a youth led organization that educates the community about safer sex, HIV, STI, and Mpox prevention, and building healthy relationships. We provide free pregnancy tests, free Plan Bs, condoms, hygiene kits, and resources for the community. PTE hosts a lot of community events where people are able to receive free materials and resources. We also offer a 7 month internship for youth ages 14-20, who are interested in promoting the importance of sexual health and healthy relationships. Applications for the 2023 Cohort is closed but we do have an Interest Form for youth who are interested in applying for our 2024 school year.

NYC Smoke-Free

NYC Smoke-Free, a program of Public Health Solutions (PHS), works to protect the health of New Yorkers through tobacco control policy, advocacy and education. We run a youth-led, adult-supported program called Reality Check, which aims to expose the manipulative and deceptive marketing tactics of the tobacco industry and produce change in communities through education, advocacy, outreach, political education, and media campaigns.

Brooklyn Plaza Medical Center

The Rising Heights Program. Brooklyn Plaza Medical Center is located on 650 Fulton Street in New York, and we provide comprehensive healthcare and support services. At the Rising Heights Program, we provide the highest quality care for people living with HIV/AIDS and Hepatitis C for over 30 years now. We work as part of the early intervention initiative and my role with BPMC is to educate patients on HIV/AIDS and sexually transmitted infections, provide confidential HIV testing, identify high risk sexual behaviors, and reduce the risk of transmission.

TEENS PACT stands for Positive Actions and Choices for Teens. Here at Teens PACT we provide free workshops, such as this one, that talks on teen issues along with providing free and confidential reproductive healthcare services for those between the ages 10 – 24.

FDNY Office of Recruitment and Retention

The Fire Department of the City of New York (FDNY) is the largest Fire Department in the United States and universally is recognized as the world’s busiest and most highly skilled emergency response agency. The Department’s main goal is to provide fire protection, emergency medical care, and other critical public safety services to residents and visitors in the five boroughs. The Department also works to continually educate the public in fire, life safety and disaster preparedness, along with enforcing public safety codes. FDNY offers training programs for ages 17 1/2 and up to become firefighters, EMS trainees, dispatchers, fire code inspectors, administrative positions, and other career paths within the FDNY.
