HEAT (Health and Education Alternatives for Teens) Program

HEAT’s mission is to provide a unique health and mental health program that focuses on the special needs of young people (13-29) who are at risk or living with HIV/AIDS and to remove the barriers that often prevent youth from accessing health care. HEAT operates a ‘one-stop shopping’ full-service clinic that is set in a youth-friendly, discrete and easily accessible venue at the SUNY Downstate’s Center for Healthcare Services in Brooklyn

Protecting The East (United Community Centers)

Protecting the East is a youth led organization that educates the community about safer sex, HIV, STI, and Mpox prevention, and building healthy relationships. We provide free pregnancy tests, free Plan Bs, condoms, hygiene kits, and resources for the community. PTE hosts a lot of community events where people are able to receive free materials and resources. We also offer a 7 month internship for youth ages 14-20, who are interested in promoting the importance of sexual health and healthy relationships. Applications for the 2023 Cohort is closed but we do have an Interest Form for youth who are interested in applying for our 2024 school year.
