Seeds in the Middle, named by 4th graders in Crown Heights, Brooklyn, partners with schools, students, families and the community to empower youth to create healthier places to live and learn. We teach how to grow, market and cook fresh, get fit, engage in the arts and achieve higher in school. Youth conduct student-run Hip2B Healthy Markets and farmstands where fresh juices, healthy snacks, fruits and vegetables start at only 50 cents. They prepare delicious, nutritious meals with chefs in school kitchens and elsewhere and serve the whole community for the same cost as a fast food combo. We grow edible gardens, tutor and run soccer, basketball and other fitness programs. We are open to all healthy, fun interventions We engage partners from all walks of life. We transform gray to green, destitution to inspiration.
