The CCRB does a series of office tours where the youth can explore different departments and careers at agency. This is a great opportunity for young people to be exposed to different career paths, while being civically engaged. We also have a Youth Advisory Council (YAC) is a working committee made up of young leaders who are committed to criminal justice issues and improving police-community relations. Members advise CCRB staff about its efforts to engage young New Yorkers, serve as ambassadors to their communities about the agency, and join team-building activities.
NYC Smoke-Free, a program of Public Health Solutions (PHS), works to protect the health of New Yorkers through tobacco control policy, advocacy and education. We run a youth-led, adult-supported program called Reality Check, which aims to expose the manipulative and deceptive marketing tactics of the tobacco industry and produce change in communities through education, advocacy, outreach, political education, and media campaigns.
